Minnesotan ten year old Mackenzie Moretter suffers from Sotos Syndrome, which means she has delayed speech and learning. She also had one of the worse tenth birthday party ever. She had invited 10 classmates to her birthday party, two canceled and the rest didn't show up at all. This had happened to her on previous birthdays where she spent it alone with just family.
So her mother tried a 2nd birthday 3 weeks later. Not wanting no one to show up, she posted on Facebook for any families with daughters Mackenzie's age to just stop by and wish her happy birthday.
She was hoping maybe 15 girls would come. But more than 400 people showed up, including Minnesota Viking's player Charles Johnson and his family, "Elsa" and "Snoopy" from a local amusement park, and local firemen. Local business donated food and supplies, arts and crafts tables, and bubble machines.
A stranger set up a gofundme page to help pay for the party, but since so much was already donated, the Moretters said they plan on giving the money to charity. A few of the girls who missed the original party came and apologized for missing her first party.
